Meet and Greet - EDDO KIM

HEY EVERYONE! Starting today, the summer interns at The Supply ARE TAKIN OVA! We’re inviting you onto The Supply Team and into our office in Closter, New Jersey! We’ll be updating this blog EVERY DAY with these daily themes:

Meet and Greet Monday
Tasty Tuesday
Watch Wednesday
Throwback Thursday
Field Trip Friday

So on that note, MEET AND GREET our Executive Director, EDDO KIM.

On paper, this UPenn and Columbia graduate has every right to be the snob that he is not. With a passion and determination that he displays at every Monday and Friday afternoon meeting, Eddo is the driving force behind his and the The Supply’s huge, but achievable vision. In every sense, he is our fearless leader, but he compels with humility and by example.

One of many things Eddo said at our Intern Orientation that is still clear as day is, “you’ll see that non-profit work isn’t as glamorous as it may seem on the outside.” Before starting as interns, all we knew were encouraging stories about Lenana, beautiful pictures of the students, and the precious moments caught on video. What we didn’t see were the logistical, monetary, relational, and innumerable struggles our Executive Director fought through even to establish The Supply Education Group in 2010.

As interns, you’d think we see a different side of our Executive Director, as he faces obstacle after obstacle, but even with all this translucency in the office, Eddo is forever Eddo—bowties, cuffed pants, huge smile and all. Constantly joking around and with endless words of encouragement, he is more than just a boss, both passionate and realistic.

Some of our first impressions of Eddo: “he’s so talkative…”, “gotta admit, he had a little swag” (he definitely paid Josh to say this…), “he’s quirky; just different”, and “outgoing and friendly”. And we won’t even mention all the comments on his clothes REDPANTSREALLYTIGHTCUFFEDCAPRISBOWTIESHUGEGLASSESHEJUSTSTANDSOUTSHORTSHORTS.

As we learn more from him and about him (HUGE appetite), it’s clear that it is more than just Eddo’s vision and plans that make him the irreplaceable founder of The Supply. So, Eddo, as much as you keep thanking the interns and the supporters, thank YOU for showing us what true dedication, sacrifice, humility, and joyful serving looks like.

Happy Monday, everyone!
