Fieldtrip Friday #2 Screening: Bethany Church
I want to start off with an apology to you faithful TUMBLRERS. It was this writer who broke the good ebb and flow and positive energy by missing our very first post on Friday.
My momma always said: “THERE IS A FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING.” This is a first and last

Screening @Bethany Church : Wayne, NJ
This was thesupply’s first try at a more interactive screening experience. Present were all the staples of previous screening. Shawn’s testimony. Eddo’s call to arms. A Supportive Crowd. But there was enough new to go around. Stations were set up that put some of the most startling facts about Lenana into a visual.
We tried to show how the kids are not only encouraged but forced to break their pencils into three parts, so everyone can actually have the privilege of having one to hold. We tried to show the quality of water that these families are drinking and cooking with, muddy, unclear. We tried to show a tattered textbook for an entire class to read and learn from. We tried to convey these emotions that were difficult to express in a half-hour time frame—unfairness, injustice, poverty and the subtle hope that lies beneath all that.
Bethany Church was given the chance to write their hopes and dreams into our very own supply pencil case bottle (shown above). And a usual tacky, elementary school arts and craft activity became a powerful exhibit of why we do what we do as an organization. These kids at Bethany have every opportunity to pursue the dreams they write down and put into that bottle. The kids in Lenana have such a limited reach that our ideals of dreaming impossible dreams and pursuing goals that stretch us to the farthest of our imaginations was an ideal best reserved for fiction.
The Kids in Lenana have shown us that they want to dream the big impossible dreams. Thank You Bethany for hosting us and believing in us. We’re on our grind trying to make the once impossible dreams of Lenana into a new fierce reality.
Empowerment through education. We are Blessed to be a Blessing.
We are All the Supply.
A Fieldtrip Friday for a Monday Afternoon.
