HEY EVERYONE! Can you say…TGIF?

We have a special video for today’s Field Trip Friday! This past Saturday, we teamed up with Palisades Church Youth Group and held our most recent fundraising event: the Palisades Church Car Wash/Yard Sale! Together, we made a whamming $709!

From the very start, this youth group and event were winners. The youth group made the flyers, the ads, the signs, and the Facebook event; they got the majority of the hundreds of pieces of clothing and trinkets for the yard sale; they promoted to their entire church and community in Old Tappan, NJ. As the cars and people started rolling into the church’s parking lot at 9AM, the youth that gave up their Saturday were nothing but smiles.

One of the things that struck me the most was how much ENERGY these youth had. It was…well…pretty ridiculous! I’m still baffled by how long they were in the entrance of the parking lot in the scorching heat, jumping and screaming, “CARRR WAAAASHHH! YARD SAAAAALEEEE!” and jumping at every opportunity to scrub a windshield. At first, I attributed this to their young age, but we interns think that it was something else. We believe that it was their willingness to serve a bigger cause and to supply whatever they had that was available—in this case, energy…a lot…of energy. Even Emet, the PRECIOUSPRECIOUSPRECIOUS little man scrubbing the tires in the video, was unstoppable!

Thank you so much, Palisades Church Youth Group! You’ve encouraged us tremendously, and you’re an irreplaceable blessing to our organization. We hope and pray that you’ll continue to do a gooood work and that your willingness to have hearts of compassion and service will never run out! You’ve reminded us that, truly, we are ALL the supply.
