TASTY TUESDAY #7 My Big Fat Greek Souvlaki
With the banality of tuesday afternoon at the desk constantly looming like an ominous black cloud over a prospective 3 on 3 basketball tournament, the supply interns brainchild-ed a movement that is now more commonly known as Tasty Tuesday. It was in response to the distress of the omniscient bleakness (this time taking the form of tuesdays) that hope arises to comfort to console. And just like that the supply staff had license to abandon their restless, listless Tuesday afternoons with one of the finest practices of comfort fooding that North Jersey has held the privilege to see.
Today was our last one. The lead up to this day was not very kind to our stomachs and our hearts. Food began to taste brittle and bitter as the tuesday from once we were again trapped. Seeing today as the demise of Tasty Tuesday, the staff slipped into a melancholic stupor, drowning ourselves in the waters of Poland Spring and the bittersweet crunch of kettlecorn. We were nearing the end and in desperate need of professional help.
We had to go Greek.

We entered the Greek Village of Norwood, NJ, where we were greeted by a bevy of Mediterranean flavors. This was our pick-me-up. We were whole again.
The laughter in the office was back, albeit it was laughter with chunks of lamb and romaine lettuce flying from our mouths as we told Korean puns, but laughter nonetheless. Tuesday was tasty again. In a measure of pure willpower (which also showed it could’ve been done a long time ago) Steph Kim abandoned her salad to join in on TEAM FOODING TIME. Welcome. Welcome Home.
We used to think the end was near that without the forever hungry interns Tuesdays would be boring again. But Tasty Tuesday has taken a personality of its own, much like the Greeks themselves, she displays a myriad of character traits: grittiness, a refusal to die, and at times an elegance beyond any hearsay I can formulate.
She lives. and She will go on, nurturing and consoling people long after we’ve gone.
That is comfort food for thought.
Happy Tuesday, everyone. It’s been a pleasure.
